Jaisalmer - Excursion
  Lodurava

16 km north west of Jaisalmer Lourva contains a number if Jain Temples that are the only remains of a once flourishing ancient capital of Jaisalmer rulers. Rising golden coloured out of the desert, they are beautifully carved with Jaali outside. A masterpiece of architectural grandeur is 'Toran' or the ornate arch at the main entrance with its exquisite carvings. Kalptaru or the devine trees is another attraction. The temple has an image of the 23rd Trithankar Parshwanath.

  Sam Sand Dunes

42 kms west of Jiasalmer are proper sand dunes and popular with camel safaris. This jaisalmer's nearest real Sahara like desert. The sand shimmers under the glow of hot sun highlighting what actually a desert stands for. Various cultural programmes are organised against the backdrop of these facinating dunes. Adventure freaks can go out on a Camel Safari-getting the real feel the desert on the camel. Of course, the sunset at Sam was out-of-this-world. The sand dunes keep changing colour, shadows shifting by the minute.

  Desert National Park

45 km south west of Jaisalmer, the landscape os dominated by rolling sand dunes and scrab covered hills. One may encounter the Indian Gozelle, Chinkara, blakbuck and exotic avian variety in this 3000 sq. km vast protected Biosphere Reserve.

  Wood Fossil Park

This town is situated on the Barmer highway about 14 kms from Jaisalmer. tis park takes you back to the Jurassic period (when the whole Thar region lay under the sea) wiht 180 million year old fossils-the geological landmarks for the study of the Thar Desert & its bygone civilization.
